The College of Future Technology at Peking University was established in 2020 to promote multidisciplinary studies and tackle important challenges in biomedical sciences and technologies. Composed of four institutes/departments (Institute of Molecular Medicine, Department of Biomedical Engineering, China National Biomedical Imaging Center, and Department of Big Data and Biomedical Artificial Intelligence), the College of Future Technology aims to understand fundamental biological processes, develop new therapeutics and instruments for human diseases, invent new biotechnologies and biomaterials, and advance the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in biomedical research.
We are currently seeking applications for multiple academic positions at all levels. We seek candidates with research interests in but not limited to the following areas.
Institute of Molecular Medicine (IMM):
Inaugurated in 2005, IMM creates an innovation-fostering environment to solve important problems in biology and human disease. The institute now houses eighteen interdisciplinary laboratories and several comprehensive core technology facilities, including a world-class non-human primate (NHP) research/translational center. IMM values challenging and longer-term research initiatives, deep collaboration, and innovation through integration. IMM is also forging strategic partnerships with national and international institutions for research collaboration, and for the development of large-scale basic, pre-clinical, and clinical research programs.
Areas: We are particularly interested in applicants who study metabolic regulation, aging and age-related diseases, immunology, and cutting-edge biomedical technology.
Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME):
Since its establishment in 2005, PKU BME has been dedicated to conducting interdisciplinary research across medicine, engineering, and biological science. Through extensive interactions with clinicians, we aim at developing innovative cross-disciplinary strategies for better diagnosis and treatment of life-threatening diseases, such as cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. The BME department also commits itself to undergraduate and graduate education. We have set up the first joint Ph. D. program (PKU-George Tech-Emory) approved by the Office of Degree, State Council of China.
Areas: (1) Precision oncology and nanomedicine; (2) neural engineering; (3) biomaterials/tissue engineering.
China National Biomedical Imaging Center (CNBIC):
Funded by the National Development and Reform Commission, the CNBIC is inaugurated to build a national biomedical imaging infrastructure that aims to develop novel medical/biological imaging techniques and integrate them into a trans-scale, multimodal imaging facility. With the combination of Multimode Medical Imaging, Multimode Live System Imaging, Multimode High-Resolution Molecular Imaging, and Trans-Scale Imaging Integration platforms, CNBIC will revolutionize biomedical research with cutting-edge technology developments and applications.
Areas: (1) Imaging theory and system development; (2) probe and sensor development; (3) big image data processing and AI; (4) innovative application of imaging technology in biomedical and clinical research.
Department of Big Data and Biomedical Artificial intelligence (BDBA):
Inaugurated in 2021, the BDBA is a newly established and innovation-oriented department, which aims to develop and implement cutting-edge artificial intelligence technologies for biomedical research and healthcare decision-making, and novel diagnostics and therapeutics. BDBA offers an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with strong support for faculty at all levels. With close collaborations with the Institute for Artificial Intelligence, the National Center for Bioinformation, and leading nation-wide hospitals, BDBA is expected to address critical scientific questions and critical clinical needs with digital artificial intelligence solutions.
Areas: (1) Big data in healthcare; (2) artificial intelligence for health and life science; (3) biomedical imaging and diagnostics; (4) multi-omics analysis and bioinformatics.
