On the afternoon of September 18th, the preparatory meeting for the establishment of the "National Biomedical Imaging Technology Innovation Alliance" was held at the Command Headquarters for the construction of the multi-modal cross-scale biomedical imaging facility in Huairou, Beijing. Nearly 70 representatives from research institutions, medical organizations, and companies with outstanding expertise in the field of biomedical imaging attended the event. Among the notable attendees were Academician Heping Cheng, the Director of the National Biomedical Imaging Center, Chief Scientist of the multi-modal cross-scale biomedical imaging facility, and a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Also present were Haotian Yang, Vice Chairman of the Huairou District Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Innovation Service Office of the Huairou Science City Management Committee; Yujie Sun, Deputy Director of the National Biomedical Imaging Center, Deputy Chief Engineer of the multi-modal cross-scale biomedical imaging facility; Jiahong Gao, Professor at Peking University's College of Future Technology, Deputy Director of the National Biomedical Imaging Center, and Head of the multi-modal cross-scale biomedical imaging facility; as well as other officials from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Biophysics, the Huairou Science City Campus Planning Office, and the Department of Science and Technology Development at Peking University. The meeting was chaired by Yujie Sun.

    In his speech, Academician Heping Cheng warmly welcomed the distinguished guests attending the preparatory meeting and provided an overview of the alliance's formation. He emphasized that as a national platform, the imaging facility should play a pivotal role in leading and radiating its influence. Institutions such as Peking University have initiated the establishment of the National Biomedical Imaging Technology Innovation Alliance to build an innovative ecosystem in the field of biomedical imaging. This alliance aims to promote resource sharing and collaborative innovation, which is of great significance for advancing technological innovation in the field of biomedical imaging and promoting industry development. He expressed the expectation that the Huairou Science City, as a key hub in the construction of the Beijing International Science and Technology Innovation Center, would become a technological stronghold in the field of Chinese biomedical imaging, producing new methods, technologies, products, and industries that will lead the development of life sciences in the next ten to twenty years.

    Haotian Yang provided an introduction to the Huairou Science City and its plans. He emphasized that Huairou Science City is positioned as a comprehensive national science center in Beijing's Huairou District, aiming to become a world-class innovation hub that aligns with national strategic needs. By 2050, it seeks to be fully established as a top-tier science city and a national science center, playing a crucial role in building China into a technology powerhouse. Currently, significant scientific and educational infrastructure and platform clusters are taking shape in Huairou Science City. The comprehensive national science center is emerging, and the supporting system is being constructed in parallel. The novel urban form of "Science + City" is steadily improving. It is anticipated that the imaging facility will be completed soon, and the alliance will be established to demonstrate its effectiveness.

    Yujie Sun provided an overview of the construction of the imaging facility and the National Biomedical Imaging Center. The imaging facility, through the construction of four major scientific instruments and auxiliary platform facilities, aims to create a panoramic structural and functional imaging system "from molecules to humans." The Science Center is the main unit responsible for the construction and operation of the imaging facility, focusing on research based on large scientific facilities, nurturing innovative talents, promoting imaging genomics construction, organizing and implementing large scientific programs, and striving for more original innovations "from 0 to 1."

    Jiahong Gao introduced the concept and related information about the alliance. The alliance is dedicated to "promoting technological innovation and leading industry development." Its goals are to drive innovation in biomedical imaging technology, become a leader in biomedical imaging equipment, and set industry standards. It actively invites participation from universities, research institutions, medical organizations, companies, technology support, and service units to jointly carry out tasks such as technological innovation, results transformation, and talent cultivation.

The draft of the alliance charter was also discussed. The preparatory meeting achieved significant progress, establishing a consensus for the alliance's construction and development. It laid a solid foundation for the alliance's founding assembly, planned for November 3-4 at the Second Huairou Forum.
