On the morning of September 20, 2022, Academician Pingwen Zhang, a member of the Beijing University Party Committee, Vice President, and General Director of the Multi-Modal Cross-Scale Biomedical Imaging Facility (referred to as the "Imaging Facility"), visited Huairou Science City. He was accompanied by Mingda Ding, a member of the Huairou Science City Party Working Committee and Deputy Director of the Management Committee, and Haotian Yang, Deputy Chairman of the Huairou District Political Consultative Conference and Director of the Innovation Service Office of the Huairou Science City Management Committee. Also present were Professor Heping Cheng, Director of the National Biomedical Imaging Center, Chief Scientist of the Imaging Facility, officials from Beijing University's Domestic Cooperation Office, Infrastructure Department, Technology Development Department, Huairou Science City Campus Planning Office, College of Future Technology, and the Imaging Facility Construction Command Office, as well as representatives from the Chinese Academy of Sciences Institute of Biophysics, Beijing Municipal Development and Reform Commission, and relevant departments of Huairou Science City.
Set against the backdrop of clear skies and mountains, six newly constructed modern white buildings stood prominently, forming a golden spiral layout—a testament to the technological sophistication of this national major science and technology infrastructure. After more than two years of construction, the infrastructure project has been completed and is ready for acceptance, with relevant acceptance work underway. Zhang Pingwen and his delegation visited the construction site of the Imaging Facility and attentively listened to the progress report on its construction. Leaders from both the university and the local government called for expedited progress in the acceptance procedures, with phased acceptance to be initiated promptly, and the commencement of interior decoration, equipment installation, and debugging to present the facility's capabilities at the earliest opportunity. This effort is in line with a spirit of dedication and excellence in preparation for the upcoming 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
