  Since the establishment of the Key Laboratory of Trauma Treatment and Nerve Regeneration of the Ministry of Education, it is focused on four key scientific issues in the field of trauma treatment: "Trauma treatment system and technology research", "mechanism research of severe trauma", "bone and joint injury research", "sports and geriatric trauma research", and three key scientific issues in the field of nerve regeneration: "peripheral nerve injury and regeneration", "muscle neuron disease research" and "cranial nerve disease research". The overall research aims at the international frontier, focusing on the field of trauma treatment and nerve regeneration, with clear positioning and distinctive features. Representative achievements during the construction period: established China's severe trauma treatment system, organized the formulation of 14 national industry standards and 4 national norms and guidelines; Trauma treatment centers have been established in more than 1,700 hospitals in 360 regions of 31 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, and 22,000 people have been trained. The trauma treatment system has been promoted and highly recognized by international counterparts. The self-developed nerve sleeve was approved as the national medical device certificate in 2021, realizing the productization of innovative peripheral nerve technology and solving the clinical problems of peripheral nerve repair. From 2019 to 2022, the laboratory undertook 85 projects, published 183 papers (86 Chinese papers, 97 SCI papers), and authorized 39 patents. In terms of talent team building, Professor Jiang Baoguo, director of the laboratory, has been elected academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2021, 11 members of the co-elected director/vice chairman of the National Second-level society, and 93 graduate students, forming a high-level scientific research team with a reasonable structure. In terms of platform construction, it was approved as the "National Trauma Medical Center" in 2019. The supporting units of the laboratory shall provide adequate guarantees in terms of funds, experiment space and equipment. The laboratory system is sound and the management system is perfect.
