    Shi's recent work include: Development of many new bio-photonics imaging and spectroscopy technologies based on the research of new mechanisms and novel optical techniques on light field regulation. Through exploration and application of light wavefront, phase and electromagnetic spectrum regulation, combined with a variety of optical mechanisms, he has made a series of original achievements in the fields of high spatio-temporal resolution unlabeled optical diffraction tomography (ODT) living cell imaging, super resolution stimulated radiation loss (STED) fluorescence imaging and femtosecond laser frequency comb high-precision phase imaging detection. For the first time, ODT imaging mode and super resolution fluorescence imaging mode were combined for living cell imaging, and a dual-mode in situ, co-positioning high spatio-temporal resolution imaging system was designed and developed. He proposed the Super resolution fluorescence-assisted diffraction tomography (SR-FACT) imaging technique, which can simultaneously perform fluorescence and unlabeled imaging on the same living cells, realizing the ability to combine intracellular panoramic imaging with specific molecular imaging. The SR-FACT system was successfully used to conduct co-localization imaging of six major organelles in living cells, and demonstrated its unique advantages in studying organelle interactions, providing a powerful tool for the comprehensive three-dimensional characterization of organelle interactions and molecular or information transfer processes in living cells. He has published more than 100 SCI papers in Light, Physical Review Letters, Laser & Photonics Reviews, PNAS, Optics Letters and other high-level academic journals, citation more than 1800 times, h factor 26. He has presided over 7 major instrument projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology, key projects of the Foundation and major research plan integration projects. In 2013, he was awarded the Outstanding Youth Science Foundation of the National Foundation of China. He was invited to report at international and domestic academic conferences up to 48 times, including 19 invited reports at international conferences; He is also member of the organization of several international conferences. Since 2014, he has been the Co-Chair of the International Conference on "Ultrafast Imaging and Spectroscopy" at the Annual Conference of the International Optical and Photonics Association (SPIE) and a member of the organizing committee of the Asian Photonics Conference of the International Optical and Photonics Association (SPIE). He is the editorial board for Photonics Research Journal of the OPTICA Society since 2019.
