As one of the most important research tools of biomedical science, imaging technology has become the core driving force of basic research of life science and clinical medicine. At present, almost all advanced biomedical imaging equipment is imported, so it is urgent to enhance the original innovation of China's biomedical imaging technology, promote the development of China's biomedical equipment industry and establish corresponding industry standards.

The "Multi-modal Cross-scale Biomedical Imaging Facility" (hereinafter referred to as "imaging facility"), a national major science and technology infrastructure construction project in the 13th Five-Year Plan period, is undertaken by our university in collaboration with the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and other units. The facility will cover a super-large scale range of 9 orders of magnitude from microscopic to mesoscopic to macroscopic, realizing functional/molecular and structural/morphological imaging with dynamic, highly sensitive and non-destructive observation capabilities, becoming the world's leading biomedical imaging facility in comprehensive capability, providing research methods in imaging omics to solve complex biological problems and obtain diagnosis and treatment for major diseases.

In order to give full play to the leading and motivating role of national facilities and take the construction of imaging facilities as an opportunity and bond, we propose to establish the "National Biomedical Imaging Technology Innovation Alliance", expecting enterprises and public institutions with future business and social influence to join us.

With the purpose of "promoting technological innovation and leading industrial development", the Alliance aims to become the leader of biomedical imaging equipment and the setter of industry standards. Through academic communication, joint research and establishment of innovation fund, the alliance will build a bridge of cooperation and communication in the field of biomedical imaging across the country, and develop consensus and joint force on the development of biomedical imaging equipment. We will build a smooth innovation chain of theory-technology-product-application in the aspects of new technological equipment , industrial software, probes and clinical diagnosis-treatment schemes, give full play to their respective advantages, effectively activate the market mechanism, and jointly create a new development pattern of win-win cooperation.
